Updates, additions, and fixes for the XenDirect WebReg Module (Release 3.0 BETA)
The modifications, additions, and fixes listed under each date are live on Beta sites as of that date listed. Xenegrade will test each of these items. As a Beta user, you can also test each of these items and report any issues you encounter via the Beta Testing Results survey site. Unless otherwise noted, the feature works the same in WebReg 3.0 as it did in WebReg 2.X. Note that WR 3.0 is referenced in this article as an abbreviation for WebReg 3.0.

QUESTIONS / ANSWERS
-
Slots Available Display: Can we remove the the slots display from the Search and Course Display areas?
- Yes. That was a feature in WR 2.0 and will continue. That is an existing Branch Web Setting. In a multi-Branch WR, it would be the primary Branch, or in same cases called the "Z" Branch. If that setting is not currently disabling the slots display, it will be corrected.
-
Format Filter: We have too many Formats. Can this filter be customized, disabled, or hidden?
- You will be able to disable the Format filter entirely. We are also about to add an [Inactive] field to that table. In the case of WR 3.0, any Format tagged as "Inactive" will not display.
-
Department: Can this be changed to Branches?
- Most definite;y. In fact, we prefer that so there is no confusion with actual Departments.
-
Multi-Branch Sites: Will we be able to hide Branches that are inactive?
- You should be able to do that now via the [Allow Cross Branch] field in Branch settings. If it does not resolve the matter, we will have to submit a fix for that.
-
Featured Courses: How are Featured Courses tagged? Can this be set for Conferences and Products also?
- Featured Courses are tagged the same way they are for WR 2.0 using the related fields in Course Sections. The difference in WR 3.0 is that the featured Courses no longer always display first. Instead, they always display but can be displayed in a list by themselves. In WR 2.0, some sites used too many Featured Courses and disrupted the Search Results display.
- Conferences and Products can also be set as Featured. Conferences and Products also have filter options in the Services filter.
-
Catalog View: Can [Group By] be removed? Specifically categories and programs?
- At this time there is no option to remove the [Group By] option. This was requested so often on WR 2.0 that we built it into WR 3.0 as a primary feature. If this is a big issue, we would like to know.
-
Cart: Is the new Cart a persistent Cart?
- One of the changes in WR 3.0 is that carts will no longer delete. This is the same for cart items which will become inactive if a client clicks to remove a cart item. The concept behind this is that client's can start a cart and come back to it later. This also allows for better analysis of cart actions and buying habits.
- This change also allows for automatic reminders sent to clients that they have items) in their cart. The timing of these reminders will be based on settings you can make.
- However, carts will not remain open indefinitely. You will be able to make a setting change that sets the length of time a cart will remain active. This setting will allow from hours to days.
-
Guest Accounts:How does this work? What information is stored? Can this be disabled?
-
This feature was the most common request for the new WR. It is also almost always on the required feature list when potential new customers demo WR.
- The Guest Account feature can be disabled.
- When enabled, clients can elect to purchase as a guest. When they do, only the client's email is recorded in a the client's profile. If the email address already exists, the client will be prompted that they already have an account.
- Note that there are some restrictions. Guest accounts cannot purchase courses that have prerequisites. Guest accounts will always use the default Fee Group for pricing. There may be other restrictions or changes before launch based on testing results.

Login: Can clients use special characters (i.e. umlaut) when creating a username and password? Will guidelines prominently display and trigger a prompt when not met.
- We are researching the ability to allow umlaut characters in user names and passwords. Even though we allow this for user names and passwords, down the road there could be issues where payment gateways or other integrations do not support them.
- General guidelines will be displayed for user names and passwords. A prompt will display when not met. We are researching how more detailed version of the guidelines can be available as a popup using an information icon the user would click. This would prevent overkill of too much information on the page.
