Revenue Item in Payment Does Not Match Fee

A Revenue Item from a Fee may not always match the Revenue Item in a Payment transaction due to the way multiple fees are handled.


Why Revenue Items May Not Match

  • Multiple Fees with Different Revenue Items:

    • Course sections and other services can have more than one fee.
    • Each fee may be assigned a different Revenue Item.
  • Payment Allocation:

    • Even if multiple fees exist, a single payment is often recorded for the total amount.
    • The system typically selects a Revenue Item randomly from the available Revenue Items in the associated Fees.
  • Single Fee Scenario:

    • If there is only one Fee, the Revenue Item in the payment transaction should match the Fee.
    • If multiple Fees exist, the likelihood of a match decreases as the number of possible Revenue Items increases.

Solution
