How Weighting Works
XenDirect uses an averaging model called Category-Weighted Averaging . The weighting allows you to assign percentages to coursework categories. Coursework Categories are the inner most level of the Coursework levels. Weighting is optional.
Group > Subject > Categories
Configuring Coursework Weighting
-
To Add or Edit Coursework Weighting:
- Navigate to the Coursework section within the appropriate Subject.
- Click on the Coursework field to enter or adjust the percentage weighting.
- Ensure that the sum of all Coursework Weighting within the Subject totals 100%.
Note:
-
To avoid calculation errors, ensure that:
- Every Category weighting sums to 100%.
- Every Subject has at least one of every Category.
- Every Group may at least one of every Subject .
- Aggregate Category Grades calculate as (Sum of Grades*Weighting).
- Aggregate Group Grades calculate as (Sum of Aggregate Categories).
-
If you use a different averaging model, we can review your model to see if it can be supported in XenDirect. Other grade averaging models include:
- Assignment-Weighted Average (points-based)
- Total Points / Points-Possible Model
- Equal-Item Average (unweighted mean)
- Standards-Based / Mastery Grading
- Drop-Lowest / Trimmed Average
