How Weighting Works
Weighting allows you to assign percentages to various elements of a course. Here’s an example of how weightings might be applied to a Yoga Instructor Training course:
-
Subject: Introduction and Overview - weight 5%
- Grouping: None
- Coursework: Read Unit 1
-
Subject: Connective Tissue and the Muscular Systems - weight 20%
-
Grouping: Period 1 - 50%
- Coursework: Read Unit 2 - 10%
- Coursework: Contemplation Exercise - 20%
- Coursework: Comprehension Quiz - 50%
- Coursework: Discussion Questions - 20%
-
Grouping: Period 2 - 50%
- Coursework: Read Unit 3 - 10%
- Coursework: Contemplation Exercise - 20%
- Coursework: Comprehension Quiz - 50%
- Coursework: Discussion Questions - 20%
-
Grouping: Period 1 - 50%
In this example, the Subject weight is distributed among Groupings and further among Coursework items. Every set of coursework, subject, and grouping should sum to 100%.
Configuring Coursework Weighting
-
To Add or Edit Coursework Weighting:
- Navigate to the Coursework section within the appropriate Subject.
- Click on the Coursework field to enter or adjust the percentage weighting.
- Ensure that the sum of all Coursework Weighting within the Subject totals 100%.
Best Practices for Weighting
- Ensure that every Subject and Grouping sum to 100%.
- Assign appropriate weightings to each Coursework item to reflect its importance within the subject.
- Review the total weighting for each Coursework and Subject to avoid errors in final grade calculations.
