Setting When Courses Display and Registration is Allowed

Use this section to learn what features control when services can be viewed and when registrations are allowed via the WebReg module.

Applies To:    Enterprise    Plus    Basic

Setting When Course Sections Display

There are three locations that control when course sections will display: Sessions, Categories, and Course Sections. If a course section does not display in the WebReg module when you believe it should display, use this checklist to help determine which setting is preventing display.

From Main Menu > Selects > Sessions

  • Display Online:  Check 'Yes' to display courses tagged with the session or 'No' to prevent the display of all courses for the session.
  • Registration Dates:  There are up to three possible registration periods - Early Registration, Preregistration, and Registration.  These periods can overlap or be separate.  If the start and end dates are entered and the [Enforce Dates] option is checked, registration will be restricted to dates between and inclusive of these dates provided all other registration-related settings are enabled. If the [Enforce Dates] option is checked but a start date or end date is blank, the dates are not enforced.

From Course Section > WebReg Registrations

  • Display Online:  Check 'Yes' to display the course section or 'No' to prevent the display of the course section.
  • Display Online Date:  Operates in tandem with the [Display Online] field.
    • If blank and [Display Online] = Yes, the course section will display in the WebReg module regardless of the date but still restricted based on all other display options.
    • If a date is entered and [Display Online] = Yes, the course section will display in the WebReg module starting on the date entered.  Other display options are still applicable.

From Main Menu > Selects > Categories

  • Display Online:  Check 'Yes' to display courses tagged with the category. When checked 'No', all courses for the category will not display. Even if checked 'Yes', all other display settings must be enabled to display.

Setting When Registration Is Allowed

There are three locations that control when registration is enabled: Web Options, Course Sections, and Sessions.

From Admin/Security > Web Options

  • Registration Ends: Enter a number for the number of days before or after a course start date that registration automatically ends.  If blank, registration ends after 11:59 PM on the start date of the course.  Negative numbers are the number of days before and positive numbers are the number of days after the course start date
  • This is a global setting.

From Course Section > Registrations

  • Display Cart Button:  Check 'Yes' to display the cart button for the course section or 'No' to prevent the display of the cart button of the course section.
  • No Cart Text:  When the Cart Button is disabled, but the course section is displayed, this text will display as the Course Registration Status.  Example:  "Call 555-123-6565" or "In-Person Only".
  • Alt Registration End:  Enter the number of days before or after the course start date that you want to allow registration to continue.  Leave blank to enforce the Web Options setting.  A value entered here will take priority over the Web Options setting. Negative numbers are the number of days before and positive numbers are the number of days after the course start date.  Registration will end after 11:59 PM on the date scheduled to end.
  • These are per Course Section settings.

From Main Menu > Selects > Sessions

  • Display Cart Button:  Check 'Yes' to display the cart button for courses tagged with the session or 'No' to prevent the display of the cart button of all courses for the session. This setting is often used to enable registration at the moment registration should start.
  • Registration Dates:  There are up to three possible registration periods - Early Registration, Preregistration, and Registration.  These periods can overlap or be separate.
    • If the start and end dates are entered and the Enforce Dates option is checked, registration will be restricted to dates between and inclusive of these dates provided all other settings are enabled.
    • If enforced but a start date or end date is blank, the dates are not enforced.
  • These are per Session settings.
