Why am I getting a security prompt when running a Crystal Report?

A recent change to the Chrome browser appears to be causing a display of a security message prompt when a user previews a report from the Crystal Report library of reports.

User should note that Xenegrade cannot control the display of this message.

  • The server that Crystal Reports runs from is too old to meet the security requirements to prevent that Chrome message.
  • The message does not appear to display for all users.
  • Other browsers do not seem to have the same security requirements that automatically display the message.

One of the main reasons we are phasing out the Crystal Reports version of reporting is due to the age of the technology used for that reporting system. This security message prompt is an example of that older technology not meeting today's standards.

Users can easily use a different browser or use the InSight reports for reporting purposes.
