WebReg Redesign: 
Major Progress Toward a Modernized Experience

 

As we continue to enhance our platform, we are thrilled to share the significant progress made in the redesign of our WebReg student registration module. Our dedicated team has been working diligently to develop a modern, user-friendly interface that not only looks great but also improves the overall user experience. The redesigned WebReg module is set to provide an intuitive and visually appealing interface that will make registration processes smoother and more efficient for students.

In addition to the improved user interface, we have also introduced enhanced branding options, allowing institutions to customize their registration portals to better reflect their unique identities. These new features are designed to offer greater flexibility and personalization, ensuring that each user can have a distinct and tailored experience. Our goal is to create a platform that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our users by providing them with the tools they need to succeed.

We are excited to announce that the redesign process has successfully completed template layouts for several major pages within the WebReg module. As a testament to our progress, we are planning a sneak peek of these enhancements in early Spring. We believe that these changes will significantly benefit our users, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to refine and perfect this essential component of our platform.


 


Memberships:
    Simple Change That Unlocked Benefits
 

If you use the XenDirect Membership feature, a recent option addition may make the feature more useful. Until this change, clients could not place a Membership purchase in their WebReg cart and immediately see the related course list and pricing associated with the newly selected Membership. Clients had to complete the Membership purchase first. Then they can return to a new cart and make their course purchases. This new option now changes that.

If enabled, clients can place a Membership in their cart and then shop for courses without having to purchase the Membership first. The courses and related prices they will see will reflect the new Membership. If they change their mind and remove the Membership from their cart, the course list and pricing will revert back to the prior values.

Enhanced Flexibility:
Registration Drop Option Gets an Upgrade
 
One frequently requested feature is the Registration Drop option. Customers have expressed a desire to allow clients to drop courses directly from the WebReg module, but the existing process didn't fully meet their needs as it also deleted their assignments— a result many found undesirable. Additionally, the Drop feature was previously unavailable for sites with multiple branches. However, a recent upgrade has addressed both of these issues, making the Drop option more flexible and better aligned with customer expectations.

The Drop feature is now available on WebReg sites that support multiple branches simultaneously. Additionally, this upgrade includes an option to change the enrollment status instead of deleting the assignment. This enhancement not only provides greater flexibility but also has the potential to save staff valuable time.

TIP: Two InSight Settings That Can Speed Up Your Report
 
Since the introduction of our powerful reporting feature, InSight, our creative users have built hundreds of customized reports. A common question we receive is how to speed up report loading times. Here are two effective hacks that may help:

Default Filter Value
When a report opens with no filter value, it typically searches through all records based on the data sources built into the report design, which can slow down load times. To speed up the process, consider adding a default value to one of your main filters. Since you'll likely use different filters each time you open the report, the default value will be updated accordingly. Additionally, some users set the default to the most commonly used value, such as the current session, and adjust it as needed.

Set the Preview Records
While in the design mode of an InSight report, set the [Preview Records] setting to the lowest number possible. Previewing all your data on the first load can significantly slow down the process. Once the report is open, you can adjust this value on-the-fly as needed. This approach ensures that the report loads faster and allows for more efficient data handling.

Independence Day July 4 - reopen July 7
Labor Day Sep. 1 - reopen Sep. 2
Thanksgiving Nov. 27-28 - reopen Dec. 1
Christmas Dec. 24-26 - reopen Dec. 29
New Years Dec 31-Jan. 2 - reopen Jan. 5

If there is an emergency where accessing XenDirect is unavailable during a time when the office is closed, submit a support ticket via the support center using the predefined emergency process.

  • News Email List: Join those who want to receive a notice whenever we post a news article. Be the first to know! You can subscribe here  . Once you opt-in, you are on the news email list until you decide to opt-out.
  • Status Website: If you have not seen or subscribed to the Service Status website , it is more important than ever to consider doing so. This website displays up-to-date server issues or scheduled maintenance that affect access to XenDirect modules. One of the key features of the status site is your ability to subscribe to the automated email list. Every time an update is made to the status site, all subscribers will receive an automated email related to the status update.
  • Application Updates:Don't forget to check the Updates section of the Support Center. Whenever updates are made to any XenDirect services, a post describing the change, addition, or fix is made. Release 3 deploys updates about every two weeks. Other services are about once per month or as needed.
