Setup Grading

There are two methods to record grades within XenDirect.

  • Assignment Method:  This is the most common method and is supported in all versions of XenDirect.  The process is to record a single grade for the course section within the Client’s Assignment record.
  • Skills Profile Method:  This second method allows for grades to be milestones or events for a specific course assignment.  This is most commonly used when a course section has multiple grades such as tests or homework but does not follow a consistent timeframe as a typical K-12 program may follow.  The Skills Profile method is only available in the Enterprise version of XenDirect.

Assignment Method

Follow these steps to enter grades using the Assignment Method.  There is no special setup required to use this method. Aggregate grades can be entered using one of these three functions.

  • Add the grade by editing the Client’s Assignment within the Client’s record using the Registration tab.
  • Use the Add Grades function available at the Tools > Course Functions menu.
  • Use the Exit Assignments function available at the Tools > Course Functions menu.

Skills Profile Method

The Skills Profile method uses an existing feature designed to create an employability skills profile for each student enrolled in a course section.  However, instead of entering employability skills, the user should create the profile for the items to be graded such as tests, homework, exams, or demonstrations.  Note that this method does not contain calculated fields, so grade calculations must be manually performed and manually added.
