Adding address field values will vary slightly based on the Branch Preference setting for the Address Method. This setting determines how addresses are formatted to accommodate the difference between countries. If adding both US and international addresses, it is recommended to use the "ZIP-Global" setting.
- ZIP: Uses a standard US 5 number postal code format. with States instead of Districts or Provinces.
- ZIP-Global: Allows for both US and international addresses. State is still maintained as the identifier rather than Districts or Provinces.
- District: Country does not have a postal code and utilizes Districts instead of States or Provinces as the identifying label.
- Provinces: Country uses up to a seven alpha/numeric character postal code and utilizes Provinces instead of Districts or States.
- Town: Country uses up to a seven alpha/numeric character postal code and utilizes Towns and does not require a District, State, or Province.
Entering Address Filed Values
The following is the recommended method to enter address field values. Some fields may not exist based on the Branch preference settings.
- City: Enter the City name without abbreviations. Be sure to check for accurate spelling.
- State/District/Town/Province: Select the State name from the list. If the State does not appear in the select list, enter the State name. Be sure to check for accurate spelling.
- Postal Code: Enter the postal code for the City / State combination. Numbers and letters are accepted to account for international postal codes. If there is no postal code, add a zero.
- Country: Select the Country from the list.
- Check all the values and save.
- If the City / State / Postal Code values do not exist in the Selects > Postal Code table, the combination will be saved there for future use.
Entering Country Only
If you desire to add a Country value only to a Client's address, follow these steps. Even though you do not have a City, State, or Postal Code, a value for those fields is still required.
- City: Enter "none" or a dash character.
- State/District/Town/Province: Enter "none" or a dash character.
- Postal Code: Enter a zero.
- Country: Select the Country from the list.
- Check all the values and save.
